# What is MeterConnect?

MeterConnect is a mobile application that lets you enter meter readings or tag data for sites that have been assigned to you by a planner.

You can use MeterConnect to track the progress of your assignment and to save and upload meter readings or tag data.

# MeterConnect Workflow

> ⚠️ **You no longer need to start the cycle**
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ Previously, you used the **Start Cycle** option in MeterConnect to reset the read status of your allocated sites. You no longer need to do this, the read cycle is automatically tracked so that it is consistent across different applications.

Assignments are created in [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC) and processed in MeterConnect using the following process:

- A PLANNER creates a meter reading or a data entry assignment by defining a group of sites and assigning the sites to a staff member.
- You log into MeterConnect. Your assigned sites will be listed in the [Site List](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2427781121) and shown on the [Site Map](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2427781227). You can filter the site list by area or group if your assignment covers more than one area/group.
- Visit the sites and [take meter readings](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2205417536) or [enter tag data](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/3492741173). As the entries are processed the status of the sites changes. You can [filter](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2440855752) the map and the site list by site status to make it easy to track the progress of your assignment, or you can see an overview of your progress on the Progress Summary page.
- If you made any entries while you were offline, you can review and upload them when you reconnect to the network.
